Grieg Seafood BC is constantly striving to adopt the newest technologies that aquaculture has to offer. Here are some of our current projects:
Gold River Hatchery – New smolt facility
Grieg’s freshwater hatchery is currently expanding to include a new state-of-the-art RAS (recirculating aquaculture system) building that will double Grieg’s smolt capacity. This building will replace two inefficient flow-through buildings to improve water usage.
New Campbell River Hatchery
This new freshwater hatchery is based just outside of Campbell River and will allow Grieg to expand its smolt capacity as well as output. New RAS technology will mean the time the smolts remain on land will be longer, which will increase the size of the smolts and reduce the fish’s ocean-impact time, allowing for improved fish welfare.
Project Status: land preparation stages and early design stages.
